The project area for the North Sea wind farm „BARD Offshore 1“ covers around 60 square kilometres and is located some 90 kilometres Northwest of the island of Borkum. The water depth here is around 40 metres.
Our offshore technicians began installing a total of 80 wind turbines of the type „BARD 5.0“ in March 2010. The first wind converters were connected to the grid in November 2010. By 2013, the offshore wind power station will produce a nominal capacity of 400 megawatts, equivalent to the power needs of more than 400,000 households.
The European Union is providing 53 million euro in funding for the project.
